What are gastronomic itineraries?

We live in a beautiful country, says a famous TV show. But I would say that besides being wonderful, ours is also a TASTY COUNTRY!

I don’t know how much you know about this corner of Italy and, consequently, how much you know about its food and wine products. I can assure you that Piedmontese cuisine can be considered a cuisine of excellence. Here, I will not talk about star chefs because they are famous in other places and known through the tremendous gastronomic guides. I will take you to discover genuine products and traditional Piedmontese dishes from this privileged corner of Piedmont enclosed between the Langhe and Roero.

The Piedmont region, particularly the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato areas, offers tourists a diverse range of gastronomic and enological experiences. Food and Wine Tourism has experienced a significant boost in this area in recent years. Increasingly, producers have come to understand the importance of establishing their presence. They are increasingly the protagonists in promoting their work and presenting their products.

SlowDays has always supported smaller and sometimes lesser-known producers because they possess an element of authenticity that can make them unique. In these parts, a food and wine itinerary makes an excellent idea for a mini-vacation or a longer or shorter weekend. Composing several aspects of these experiences can create your personal food and wine itinerary.

Piedmont food and wine experiences in the Langhe.

You can visit many places on a Piedmont food and wine weekend in the Langhe, so it is essential to have clear ideas about which experiences, wines, and foods to explore. The Langa, with its small villages, wineries, and castles that fill the landscape, is considered one of the world’s most beautiful and evocative areas. It is no coincidence that it is a UNESCO heritage site.

We have carefully combined food, wine, and history in our Piedmont Langhe food and wine tours. These three “ingredients” represent the pillars of this famous area of Piedmont.

Follow our suggestions on what to visit, and trust us to experience the perfect Piedmont Langhe food and wine tour.

In Langhe, even truffles depend on the moon, or they are the moon. In the Langa for truffles, one goes into the night, and in the dark, one searches for the sweet food hidden from the light.

The moon accompanies the search, and its variability in the sky indicates to the truffle hunter the appropriate time of maturation of the mushroom. It is no coincidence that in the traditional countryside, some older adults associate the truffle with the moon, seeing similarities in the shape of the star, in their concealment and their unveiling through circumstantial signs that the generous cosmology of these hills gives us at the time when the earth is preparing for its well-deserved rest. The cold stubbornly protects its late but most precious treasure.

LANGHE FOOD AND WINE ITINERARIES

If you think of the Langhe, you will surely think of the gastronomic specialties that characterize it. Indeed, excellent wines, such as Barolo and Barbaresco, are renowned worldwide, as are many culinary specialties.

You can feel the seasons in the Langhe! Spring, with its soft colors, summer with the explosion of nature; winter, when it cloaks the hills in white, makes the hills even sweeter, but autumn defines the beauty of the mountain with its flaming colors.

A few wet days, the mist in the morning, and many excellent products mature in this period.

Mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts, the first harvest of hazelnuts, and cheeses that, throughout the year, whet our appetites, become the protagonists of excellent dishes. And then the prized King, the White Truffle of Alba, with its less prized but still attractive declinations in all seasons.

An overview of dishes, flavors, and fragrances without forgetting the desserts, nougat, and hazelnuts in cream.
