Once upon a time, there were four Swiss who, leaving from Basel, gathered in Alba to celebrate the birthday of their dear friend, who was celebrating 10 magnificent lustrums ?!
Fairy tales and fables aside, Slowdays had the honor of organizing a weekend of nature and good food to celebrate this important milestone … and which destination could not be more suitable than the Langhe?
First of all, we met in Alba to go around freely in the rich fruit and vegetable market, where the farmers of Alba offer their most beautiful treasures, fruits, and vegetables grown in the territory of the Langhe and Roero. Afterward, a competent guide waited for the group and then left for Fontanafredda.
What hills, what landscapes, a panacea for heart and soul!
An exceptionally warm sun (to be in March) and a pleasant temperature made everything even more pleasant and perfect.
And here we were in the village of Serralungua d’Alba, where there are the Fontanafredda cellars, counted among the 100 most beautiful wineries … in the world! Fontanafredda is for the Langhe the flagship when it comes to vineyards and wine, its cellars date back to the 1800s and can be visited through a guided tour. Moments that make you amazed, without a doubt!
Around noon the hunger was beginning to be felt, but Slowdays provided to delight the palates with a delicious break in Castiglione Falletto, a characteristic village and very interesting to visit, where the restaurant La Terrazza was waiting for us Renza to serve all diners a typical lunch full of delicacies and succulent dishes. Lunch was good preparation for wine tasting in the early afternoon in a nearby wine cellar. Top the glasses for our friend’s 50th birthday! 100 and more these days! Chin-chin!
Thanks to the legendary Terrace lunch, all the participants excellently held up the “alcoholic test”?
