Fabio... read moreWe initially signed up for a day tour of the Barolo region (Langhe). Due to the fantastic response time and ease of setting up a great trip, we decided to do a second day.

Fabio picked us up at our hotel in Torino on time and was pleasant and knowledgeable about the area and wines. Most importanly, he is a very cautious driver.

The wineries were a delight, even more friendly that was expected with tours from family members themselves. Our wine discussions so informative and delightful that we were often late for the next event. This is not a critique on Fabio, he was very professional and updated the next winery ahead of time.

The lunches at the various wineries were what you would expect at a trattoria more so than a typical (Napa Valley) winery. It was multicourse versus just salame and cheese.

He took us to two wineries, one in... read moreA big thank you to Claudia for arranging a wine tour for us. Fabio was our guide, and he picked us up at our bed and breakfast. He took us to two wineries, one in Barolo and one in Barbaresco. Fabio was delightful and we had a great day with him. He took pictures of us throughout the day and sent them by text, which only added to great memories. The wineries were both family run where we met the owners and could feel their love of what they do. We now have a lot of wine to ship home, but that’s a good problem! Claudia arranged a lunch for us in Barolo at a restaurant where the food was local and fresh, and delicious! She also made sure that we would have time to wander through Barolo, which was the perfect town to spend an afternoon in.
Making arrangements through Claudia was very easy, and made for a great vacation. She also arranged a fabulous day for us with a truffle hunter, but that will be in another review. I highly recommend Slowdays for touring in the Piedmont area! read less - 30/10/2019

I had researched tour organizers in the area and soon I discovered Slowdays! I contacted Claudia in the spring and the dialogue started and Claudia spent a lot of time and effort trying to understand our needs and expectations. I have to say the trip was perfect for everyone in the group. Claudia was spot on in every aspect, (even the bus was great). The hotels were wonderful, small personal boutique hotels with great views of the vineyards. The restaurants fantastic ranging from local restaurants to the best in Piedmont. We highly recommend the truffle hunt and the truffle fair! Highly recommend the cheese whisperer and the visit to the local farmer. We did bike tours on e-bikes and I have to say it was a good choice to select the e-bikes. You can see so much more by covering more distances and the guide Riccardo was excellent. We also did wine tasting :). And I would recommend smaller wineries, the bigger ones tend to be more commercial. We met Claudia and her mother at the truffle hunt a very likeable person and she is really good at understanding the customers needs and mixing together different activities. For us the trip was like a symphony that started slowly and modestly but during its lifespan it grew stronger, faster, bolder and ended in a big climax in the end 🙂 (for us it was the dinner at La Ciau del Tornavento, beautiful house and wine cellar, great food, in our opinion the best restaurant in the trip). She created an itinerary that allowed my daughter and me to have a simply magical week in Piemonte. From the moment I contacted Claudia with my inquiry and continuing throughout our visit, she was responsive, thorough, and a joy to work with. I really liked her approach to creating our itinerary: she provided us with a questionnaire to identify the activities we enjoy, what kind of accommodations we prefer, and what our budget was. Using our answers she booked us at lovely hotels and superb restaurants with out-of-this-world food, arranged all of our transfers, and developed an amazing roster of customized experiences: tastings and lunches at small, family run wineries; riding ebikes through the Langhe hills to arrive at a hazelnut orchard for a private tasting and tour of the family’s commercial processing lab; searching for truffles with a hunter and his dog (she found a white one that we were able to eat with our winery lunch!); walking through vineyards with an extremely knowledgeable guide who helped us deeply understand cultivation and harvesting techniques; shopping for ingredients and preparing a traditional Piemonte lunch with a fabulous cook in her lovely home; and attending the Slow Food Movement International Cheese Festival. I honestly do not know how our week in Piemonte could have been any better, and I am certain we never would have found the activities on our own. Each of the wineries we visited was beautiful with delicious wines. We had so much fun and a great way to see the region from outside of your car! All in all it was a 6-hour program and a great way to spend an afternoon.

We spoke a mix of Italian and English (mainly because I wanted to practice), but her English was fantastic. She drove us to two vineyards. The tours were great and I got to try a lot of wine. Unfortunately it was quite foggy (at least now I understand why it's called "nebbiolo"), but I still managed to see some beautiful fall colors.
