The castle of Serralunga d’Alba gives us a perfect day out in its simplicity that has all the ingredients for getting to know the various aspects of the Langhe: the history and culture, the magnificent landscapes and the excellent food and wine.
Serralunga d’Alba is one of our favourite villages, a little less frequented than the more famous Barolo and La Morra, but just as interesting and rich in history.
- Itinerary: about 10 km for 200 metres of altitude difference (not demanding, but good physical fitness required)
- Includes: Trail map to follow on app, assistance throughout the tour, typical lunch, guided visit to the castle of Serralunga d’Alba

ITINERARY DESCRIPTION “Around the castle of Serralunga d’Alba”: Start the trail near Serralunga, near the restaurant, where at the end of the walk you can enjoy an excellent typical lunch. 10 KM on paths immersed in the vineyards and “causagne” (the roads that cross the vineyards) – 200 meters total height difference – Classification: easy-medium
PROGRAMME OF THE DAY
- Departure at 9.30/10.00 is for your walk through the vineyards of Serralunga d’Alba, one of the communes where Barolo wine is produced. We’ll send you a track to follow on your mobile phone, even offline, so that you can follow the entire route without fear of getting lost or taking unnecessary detours.
- Around 1 pm: Typical lunch with a view. A menu consists of an appetizer, the first course of your choice, hazelnut cake, and a glass of Nebbiolo. Water and coffee included.
- At 4 pm, a tour of the castle of Serralunga d’Alba to discover a story you might not expect.
Additional Information
The Castle of Serralunga d’Alba dates back to the 14th century and is considered one of the best preserved of the period.
It is genuinely imposing and unique, albeit bare of furnishings and precious objects…don’t imagine the usual castle!
We like it because:
- it can only be visited with the castle’s talented guides, and it is an added value to understand its history and features better
- the visit lasts 45 minutes, just enough time to leave room for other activities during the day
- from the windows at the top of the castle, there is a unique and spectacular view…to leave you speechless!
